This quote relates to a tamron 400mm f7.5 being used on a K100 (no live view) but is applicable...

"Getting a sharp picture with a slow manual lens like this ...is difficult. The process requires bracketing focus - taking many pictures, checking the monitor, small adjustments to focus between each shot until accurate focus is achieved. Behind each reasonably focused picture there are 20-30 taken and discarded."

I have just acquired the Mamiya 645 C 500mm f 8.0 reflex/mirror lens, so I am happy to find that this club exists. I am using this medium format lens with an adapter on the K-1 and K-3 as it cannot be used on Pentax 645 mount owing to incompatible registry distances.

Here are a few photos with the K-3. I am working on learning how to get good results from this lens, and will definitely appreciate any advice and assistance anyone feels like offering.

Bean bag, LV focus and remote shutter is my MO.

How about some distance samples, moon etc

I have not done much long work, but this group has one. I am waiting for another herd of deer in our meadow. So far I have just been doing hand holding with higher ISO to permit faster shutter.
