Nice shots Nigel,
I like your detail shots, here and in DA* thread, but I'd absolutely love the first here if the guy wasn't slap bang in the middle.. shame..

Hi chap and thanks for you comments, much appreciated.
I have been finding problems with the crop on the first one, but each time I revisit it, I find it hard to improve. What I like about it ,is the way I follow the view point from the onlookers in the painting, over the shoulder of the subject.
I have also left it in landscape, so the bench and panelling behind, reflect or imitate the seating in the painting.
I know it isn't the ideal having the subject in the middle, but when I placed different crops along side each other, I kept being drawn back to the image I envisaged when I framed the shot. I appreciate what you are saying, but to achieve it, I think I would actually have needed to take it from a slightly different position, rather than cropping to move the subject. I will return to this museum soon, so will try something else.
Kind regards
Nigel

PS. had another go...

Cheers chap, the trip brought back memories for me from many decades ago when visiting grandparents...how things have changed for many of us.

Thanks chap,
It is an amazing place, more so as I have memories of grandparents living in similar places. It was difficult to do it any justice as their visit was more important, and I did not want to intrude.

FA 100-300mm F4.7-5.8

Seems like just about everyone who has this lens is very enthusiastic about it. I love mine.
