This lens is much better than an example of the F 100-300mm I looked at a few years ago.

Love this photo and your others shot with the HD FA 35. I was definitely sad when I sold off my smc FA 35, what a great little lens.

I never tried the SMC version but I really like the HD one and I can't foresee it being sold any time soon.

Yep I really like my HD FA35 to. I've been trying to figure out why. The smc FA50 I've never really warmed to not sure why there either.

The SMC version was never highly thought-of and I don't know how much difference the coatings really make but if they're solely responsible from moving a lens from "meh" to "very good" then it's an impressive feat.
