Matt, Matt, Matt- your killing me out here man! I grew up in Utah, but have spent the last 20+ yrs in south eastern Michigan. First you throw around some x-country / alpine skiing photos (especially back country), then the great mountain biking terrain (all of which I enjoy seeing, mind you). So I figured well at least I'm in the middle of awesome kayaking country. But now you taunt with an overview showing how wooded your winding valley river is and then you ice the cake with that great shot of an outstanding downhill river gorge! Oh well, just keep it up! If I get to where I really can't take it any longer- I'll just take a long awaited trip to the UK sometime

Ha, thanks. I did the opposite. Grew up in Ann Arbor and then moved West for the adventure.

Just picked up a DA*55 off the market place here and took it out to do some night shooting, has anyone else noticed a lot of flaring in this lens? Maybe its normal for shooting at night? anyway, here's a sample of my first portrait with the lens, a stuffed panda from the zoo.

Went to a local park today to practice kayaking and SUPing with my wife and some friends. Discovered I cannot keep my balance in a kayak, by falling twice into the nasty, mucky pond water... but got some fun photos while I was drying off.

And this nice dragonfly was kind enough to stand still and let me get fairly close to take his picture (actually ended up with a lot of detail, if you click to the full-size shot):

Since I have really been enjoying this thread I thought I would post these couple shots here. I guess they could go into into the 300mm lens club thread but there is too much of a competitive nature there with all the big 500mm lenses (and Nikon 800mm).

The venue I have been shooting a lot of outdoor concert photos at has these wagon rides for kids. I like shooting the scene with the wagon but have never taken a ride. Last night a couple of ladies who are old friends pretty much kidnapped me for a wagon ride. So I continued to shoot for some different perspectives I don't normally get.
DA* 16-50 and I processed with Color Efex Pro using the Black Gold recipe.
