Thanks Norm, the Cardinals in this park are always there but never come to close to the trail. I decided to hike into the woods were I found a clearing and waited behind some bushes. Autofocus was pretty useless on these they were shot manually. I have been wondering how much better the Pentax TC would perform over my Tamron one the 60-250.

Half a stop, weather sealing on what would mainly be a portrait lens, and pixie dust for an extra $300-400... Opinions from the star crew?
I have the 50-135, 60-250, and the DA 501.8. The DA 501.8 is basically a steal for the price. Just really sharp from f1.8 on. The 50-135 is such a nice walk around lens and perfect for portraits. The 50-135 is perfect for crop sensor cameras. I can use it on my K50 handheld without difficulty and it does not tire me out. A 70-200 2.8 on full frame is just way heavier. Since the 50-135 is internal focus and zoom, with weather sealing, I do not worry about using it in the rain at all even though it is a zoom. The 60-250 may be the closest you can get to perfection in a zoom lens. No need to worry about what f stop you are at. It is sharp at all of them. Now having both the 50-135 and the 60-250 if I had to choose one it would be the 60-250.
