DA* 60-250 can only screwdrive on very old bodies where SDM does not work, it cannot be converted to screwdrive (unlike 16-50 and 50-135) to work on more modern SDM compatible bodies. Basically you cannot use screwdrive on any bodies from a certain model dating back to 2007 or something I forget which exactly.
I've never used it on an old body like a *ist but you'll not be doing that anyway and neither will I
The SDM probably is OK on it, the 60-250 SDM fails much much less frequently than 16-50 or 50-135 where you have a decent chance of failure.
Using the lens more frequently apparently helps the SDM from failing, if you leave it for ages like a car the handbrake ceases up analogy.
I bought mine used from a camera shop with a 1 year guarantee cheaper than what they go for privately, however it is just about to run out, the lens is probably about 8 years old. A private seller is hardly going to offer you a 1 year guarantee.
I paid £359 UK for mine with 1 year warranty, lens was in fantastic condition with tripod foot, original caps and original Pentax zip case for 60-250...
Make sure you get the tripod foot!
