Damn you guys ! Here I was happily decided on 16-50 & 60-250 to add to my growing LBA addiction and now you lot throw the 50-135 and 300 into the mix too ....... aaaagh my head hurts !

So what do you think ? Should I stick to the 16-50 & 60-250 or is there any advantage by changing that to 16-50 / 50-135 / 300 (I have the AFA x1.7 to add to the 300 or 60-250) ?

I think a lot of the 50-135 shots posted here are stupendous and have me drooling .....

I own the 50-135, and it is superb, frankly. I have seen nothing but good things about the 60-250, though, and am a bit torn because of the range available with the 60-250 compared to the 50-135, but then I think about losing a stop of light, and using the K10d, keeping the ISO down is a good thing, and then ....

I guess I will just have to wind the lottery and buy them all!

Personally, for the subjects I enjoy shooting... hummingbirds, butterflies... nature stuff... I can't imagine not having the DA*300 in my bag (actually... it's rarely in my bag...). I've been shooting with the DA16-45, DA*50-135 and the DA*300 as m y kit for some time now... no regrets.

I can't comment on the 16-50 or 60-250...

...but the DA*50-135 is no slouch either

All with K20D and DA*50-135

It doesn't fit in my bag! I put it on a BlackRapid strap (and try to use a 'pod if possible.)

Thanks CR - yes, I think I'm just going to have to go to a seamstress to have my pockets deepened.

Bud - see ?! That's exactly what I mean - stupendous shot of the Polar Bear and Snake in particular.

DA* 200mm F2.8 practice

I haven't had a whole lot of free time lately (unfortunately) but got out into the yard for a little practice with my new DA* 200mm. This is a hand held shot from our front yard, late one afternoon. Only resized. The second shot is just a crop of the first.

Nice and crisp. I particularly notice the lack of CA and PF with the lens.

I just got the DA *55 for Christmas. An amazing lens. Sharp from f1.4 and can cut you after f2. I was amazed at how much contrast it had, even in some really back lit situations without the hood. Here are a few photos taken over the holidays, at family gatherings and a ski trip.

Ok, so I just got the 50-135 last night and wanted to test it today on my K-7. Please pardon as I am a sub-par photographer, but I thought this came out ok. Model is my 19 month old daughter. It's ok, I can take criticism!

Just bought the 50-135 recently and love it. Here's a shot from CES 2011 of an electric Audi R8.

60-250 has good, useful range.

Nice shot, Ex Finn. If the 60-250 had been available when I bought my 50-135 I would have had a very hard decision to make. Swapping out the field of view range for one stop - hard choice. As it is, I purchased a 1.7X AF converter, so I can turn my 50-135/2.8 into an 85-230/4.8 with limited AF capabilities. The optical results are really quite astonishing. I did a test walk with the combination, and the results are here on my Flickr site if you want to check them out. I was very pleased with the results from the combination.

Thanks Canada_Rockies, your combination holds together rather well, says a lot about Pentax optics. DA* 60-250 f2.8 would make me get a loan and a mono-pod.
Those two fellows hit the ground pretty hard down range.
