I'm pondering getting K-5 too these days, but not sure if it's the best way to go for my needs...

What's holding you back from getting the K5? Improved DR, AF, ISO.

Thought of having to part with one of my lenses (most probably it would be the FA* zoom)
And I'm not sure if it would be enough in terms of AF improvement

DA* 16-50

I've seen all too many messages bad mouthing the DA* 16-50 for all sorts of things

Here's a photo I took the other day under all the condtions that make photography difficult. It's take 1/30th of a second at f/2.8 with ISO 1600 hand held with a K-5 Now the automation did all the work, and other than down size it (since I took it 'RAW') what you see is what came out of the camera.
