Second "outing" with my 60-250… this time for an event in the community space next door to my house (they turned it into a cafe for a night as a fundraiser). No tripod this time, just hand-held, and probably 3/4 of the photos I took were while I was sitting at a table, so I had my elbows supported, which definitely helped.

I'm really impressed with how good the color and quality was out of the box. Aside from cropping, the only edits I did were lens corrections and applying a color profile, and on one photo I'm posting here, tweaked the red channel a bit towards orange to rescue my friend from looking like a wino or a reindeer (his nose was bright red in the image for some reason).

The reddish tint to the black sweater is actually my redheaded wife getting in the way for a tiny fraction of a second, I think. I have no idea what they were discussing. I thought it was a cool shot of her framing his head with her hands. My wife and buddy suggested he was expressing disbelief at a particular measurement. *shrug*

Somehow I accidentally bumped the ISO all the way up to 25600 here, and I was quite surprised at how well it turned out. A bit grainy, for sure, but usable.

A few shots with DA *200.

This first shot is one that wouldn't have been possible (at least for me) with a body without shake reduction. Shot at iso 6400 and 1/50 second.

Very nice indeed, diablo! Funny, but this is the kind of scene I might have expected the 16-50 to struggle with a little, handled with aplomb!

Mine has been serviced and I would say the performance has definitely stepped up a notch. I am getting sharper images in AF - I am pretty sure the AF was (when not failed) fouling a little especially at longer FLs. Looking forward to trying more now, the minor frustrations I was having with the lens have dissolved.

Excellent interior image Diablo!
Thanks for the kind word guys, I actually bought the 16-50 specifically for a winter trip to North America, I have to say it has really shown me what a *lens can do, and the weather sealing was a life saver in a lot of occasions.

Blood Moon & The Red Planet
K-5 & DA* 60-260
I developed the same raw file twice, once for the moon, and once for everything else and then combined them in Photoshop.
