I've been weighing up various Nifty Fifties of late and feel compelled to post the following picture:

PS: Here's a review of the DA*55 on a Sony A7r

Based only on those charts... that Zeiss is looking pretty nice. Very sharp early and across the frame.

Now let's shoot charts in the shower and see who wins.

Great looking 2nd shot there. It really captures the Christmas feeling. What city was that taken in?
It's in Quebec City, in the area of Petit Champlain

No, I did take some HDRs of this scene, but owing to the breeze there was a lot of movement in the trees and grass. I didn't actually try to process them because of this.

This one a single shot, but it did have some post processing - mostly in Lightroom, from memory a small amount of Viveza 2 as well. Most notably the 'vignette' effect on the grass was added afterwards.

Thank you for the info, John. Yes, looking at the shot I somehow get the impression that it was a breezy moment. Nice effects you've added - I like the vignetting. Happy shooting.

I have been using the HD DA 1.4x rear converter every day this month, mostly paired with my DA* lenses.

This is a multi-level stitch (7 layers in portrait format!) with the "DA*77" on the K-3

Garden pano 2

And here's one with the "DA*420" on the Q. Uncropped and hand held....

It's a beautiful shot, but handheld? Wow! Definitely beyond my abilities.
