Once again my 16-50 SDM has failed. This one was brand new sent out by Precision 2 years ago. Back to manual focus which is really no big deal but disappointing.

My 16-50 was fixed after the lens was dropped less than a year ago. Now it's failed again. Also the manual assist didn't seem to be working very well on some shots. I bought a 3-year warranty when I bought the lens used. Since it's "no fault" this time I can get the job done under the warranty.
I recently purchased a 15mm f4 limited prime which is so much more compact and seems more robust (screw drive focusing, but not weather resistant). I plan to use it on trips when bulk and weight are an issue.

I have even fallen on my 16-50. It was hangging from my shoulder with a strap. It was rainy day and little snowy/muddy conditions(i was having fun with AW). So i slipped, and camera + lens got under me. I could partially stop my self with out breaking bones, but I made little bump. lens was in 25 or so mm. so little out. I jammed the lens, but forced it little a bit so it went back moving. After that. nothing, no problem. I would have thought that something got misanglied or broken, but no. There has been from early days one scratch at front element, but that is all. I think that I got that when there was -35 and I did put on lens cap so that it did hit little front element. ? . not actually sure. Only thing what I have had not working was AW sealing, but it was stormy weather some thing else could have happened too, but I suspect that sealing at front of the lens is little wearing down. That is all.
