Doesn't look like there was any where to run from that storm How do you keep your gear dry while biking? I have been looking for something for around town biking.
There wasn't, and it was closing in from all sides and much darker to the left of the frame here.
I was mountain biking so I had my standard hydration pack I always wear which is made by Deuter. It has a rain cover I can pull out to cover the pack which I made good use of that night.
I also often bring (but forgot this time) a small OR (Outdoor Research) dry bag in the pack for an extra level of protection or if I might face the possibility of getting fully submerged on a spring runoff creek crossing. Luckily the rain cover kept the pack dry enough the camera stayed dry for the downpour.
Here's the dry sack I use: Outdoor Research Window Dry Sack - 2009 BCS from Backcountry.com

Twitch,

You continue to impress! I'll have to get me a nice filter and see if I can learn from you. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks.

I wrote up how I do these shots in the 15mm mind control thread about a year ago. It's not hard though; add a 49mm B+W 10 stop filter, a tripod (I use a mini tripod) and your trusty Pentax DSLR with limited. Point it at a bright scene which has some static objects and some moving (clouds, water or other). Compose using LV. I just start at about f/16, ISO80, 20sec and check exposure via histogram.

If you use a mini tripod for these shots like I do, you will soon realise a flippy LCD on a DSLR is no gimmick

This is where I really like using the Canon G12 for My IR shots , I have my Mini-Tripod sitting at a Low point and rotate the LCD display facing up so I can compose without getting on my knees then taking the shot. I agree a Tilt Liveview would be awesome thou

Thanks so much for sharing your expertise Twitch.

I've only been a member a few months and found the post awhile back after I saw your shots. I was such a newb (still am) I had no idea what you were talking about but I finally get it. The filter was ordered last week and is on its way to me. One thought.......I'd have to be close to the static subject to better realize the effect of the moving background. Moving clouds at a distance will not appear to move much in relation to the static object within the 20 sec. exposure. This explains why your shots are mostly taken with the 15mm or the 21mm. Am I off?

i completely agree with the flip LV screen. I trialed a Nikon that had a flip screen thingy and while others said it was a gimmick that was more useful for video, I actually used it a lot for still shots like you mentioned.

Thanks again.

I absolutely agree about the flipping LCD screen. Took some shots with the 15mm in Thailand recently, using the kx was such a pain for composing the shot.

twitch do u MF the lens? Once the 10 stop is on the AF totally fails for me. And MF with the kx is terrible on live view. I guess one could do hyperfocal....
