I used my da40 to take a 22 image panorama (portrait oriented) while I was at the summit yesterday. I searched for a better way to display the result and found this interesting app, Dermandar. I can't figure out how to embed it here, but check it out on my blog. Pretty neat technology! The da40 is so nice for panoramas due to the very low distortion and great sharpness. Have a look!

Edit to add: Here's the static version (click for very large one) but it hardly does it justice. The interactive version (which I think uses Flash) is much more interesting.

Edit again to add: I fixed the missing blog post. D'oh! I hadn't checked the "Publish" button. It should now take you to the interactive panorama I referred to above.
Matt,
That is excellent! I really like the detail.

Very cool panorama, I might have to look into this method. Zooming doesn't do much good though since the resolution's been limited. Imagine them not wanting to host a quarter-gigapixel image!?!?!

Thanks! Right, I had to give up a ton of resolution. I wish I could host these myself to make them higher res, but their service doesn't seem to have a portable format. I'm looking into other options as well.

Absolutely! I also scoped some ski lines so I'll be back after the snow flies when it's not so easy but even more fun!

That's pretty awesome, Matt. I envy your frequent mountain adventures. :-)

I took my 35 Limited out for a spin this morning before work...

this thread has cost me a lot of money (and gave me some great little tools in stead). Your pictures helped me to make up my mind. Now I own the 35, the 40, the 70 and since a few month the 21 ltd, I'm starting to recognize the character of these lenses, the great sharpness en detail. Of the recent pictures, I especially liked the evening ride pictures of MattB123, and the portraits of the Maroccan kids from Mpa3yka.

still need to get used to my 21mm, but here are some pictures of it:

I'd say you're getting used the lens just fine.
I really like that first one. Great composition and beautiful light!

Thanks beeldmark! As already noted that first shot if gorgeous! The second isn't bad either!

Here's some more photos from a bike ride. The da40 is great for bringing along on these rides for it's compactness and of course the IQ!
I did a big loop from my house today into the nearby backcountry. Beautiful day and a fun ride!

That's a beautiful place to live! So different from the Netherlands, where every square meter is assigned for some function, and where nature resembles an American city park... Two nice pictures, that complement each other. The treas are beautiful.
