It's obligatory with a new TLR to take at least one shot looking down into the viewfinder, so here it is, courtesy of the DA 21mm.

And the set-up itself.

Erm... Yes.... there are differences between the 2... If you are asking on sharpness, i'd say both are as sharp enough for anyone.

Difference mainly i see is their "character"... **40 seems to be designed to be "flat field" sharp from the get go whereas the 43 is not so; centrally sharp and then gradually falls off as it goes to the corner, this doesn't apply for all f stops.**

I guess that's why the 43 (higher central sharpness) is more suited for portrait and the 40 is more general purpose and perhaps landscape?

Money difference, i don't know.. But perhaps you can start by giving consideration to the kind of "character" you would want..

** Of coz stopping down to f/8 would render the sharpness more or less the same, unless you only appreciate photos that are viewed only at 100% magnification.

I find the 40 is a great landscape and general walkaround lens. Mine is one of my favorites.

31, 77, and 43mm of course - mounting on an APS-C camera,or a full frame does not affect focal length. FoV on the other hand...
