I really like the DA40. Mine now pretty much lives on a K2000 as a casual camera for times when I don't want to carry a lot. If I'm going out specifically to take photos with the K20D it always comes along too. It's a pretty versatile lens; these are all from the K2000/DA40 combo.

Riding the miniature train in Balboa Park, San Diego, CA. You can't beat the focusing speed. This combo is a great point & shoot (OK, so it's a bit big, but at least it has a real viewfinder).

Here's one more with the DA40, this time on the K20D. Emerald Lake, Yoho National Park, Canada.

Did I mention I really like this lens?

Jeff,
may I officialy announce that I kind of hate you???
I'm so envious of that line up...
what do you think of 40?
And how does rendering of 21 compare to it? I've had my eyes on 21 for a while and after getting dissapointed with my Sigma 24 again, I'm literally minute away from pulling the trigger... if only I wouldn't have declared moratorioum in July.... oh well, 2&1/2 more months... that's only like 75 days, I can manage

That trio is also my lens "roadmap". So far I have the 40, will have the 21 or 70 for Christmas time, still deciding which is more important. The third will be had a bit later on.

Haha, thanks for the vote of confidence! I love the DA 40mm, no question. Many, many thanks to dugrant153 for generously letting me borrow his copy so that I would have no doubts about buying my own.

How does the DA 21mm compare? I find it gives similar results; sharp, contrasty and colorful images. If shot with the right angle, you can elicit reasonable DOF out of it as well.

So my two first Limiteds arrived today (40 & 70).

What an amazing piece of engineering that tiny 40 pancake lens is !!

So small, yet fast(ish) and apparently sharp wide open...

My very first test shot with it:

.

I like people pictures in black and white, but wanted to show the colors out of this lens as well :

.

I don't think I'll ever sell it

Great autumn shots!

Btw, would anyone care to explain to a non native english speaker what (if any) difference there is between the terms "fall" and "autumn"?

sorry for OT
