What an amazing piece of engineering that tiny 40 pancake lens is !!

So small, yet fast(ish) and apparently sharp wide open...

My very first test shot with it:

.I like people pictures in black and white, but wanted to show the colors out of this lens as well :

.

I don't think I'll ever sell it
Very nice test shot. I only have the DA35 of the limiteds, but it is also great for people.

One thing about the DA ltds though, is that I sometimes think they lack a bit of character or personality. They take great neutral photos, very good shapness, color and ok bokeh. But images lack some of that special "something" you can see in images taken with the FA ltds and other older lenses.

Really sharp images.
Seems you got a keeper

I think so

For people who still wonder what these lenses look like and how small they are:

And the first two test shots with the DA 70 Ltd:

Great autumn shots!

Btw, would anyone care to explain to a non native english speaker what (if any) difference there is between the terms "fall" and "autumn"?

sorry for OT
I don't think there are any differences between the meaning, except for perhaps where the terms are more commonly used. I think the English use the term "autumn" and the US uses the term "fall". But with me being Canadian, I use either one, interchangeably.

The term "fall" I think refers to the falling of the leaves off of the trees.. I dunno if the trees in England experience the same changes?

Hey Andi, that is definitely a Limited infection that you've got, and that makes you a Prime candidate to show us how each of the ltds compares with the same scene and same POV. Are you up for the challenge ?

Well, I didn't really "move". I was just looking for a small system to get as much
quality of my Canon 5D MkII + L-lenses system as possible.
I don't always want to travel with all my heavy equipment
I considered everything, micro 4/3, even the new Leica M9. And then I remembered -
I had seen some beautiful pancake lenses somewhere before...
So yeah, I bought the Pentax system for all those great small lenses...

I have been shooting Pentax for years, and had the DA35 macro limited before buying the K-7. The pair matched up so well, that I have just ordered the DA15 and FA77 limiteds to make a basic 3 lens travel/light setup. I also acquired a small bag that can be worn as either a belt or shoulder bag that carries lets me carry this kit plus a 360 flash. I would like just one more longer limited to complete this kit.

Like Andi, I looked at the micro 4/3 options, but decided to stay with Pentax and the limiteds for my compact go anywhere needs.

Some DA35 Ltd shots

Great shots, everyone!

The DA 35 was my first limited lens, and what a great lens! Plenty sharp, great focal lenght and amazing close focus ability in a fairly small package! I fint the DA35 to be the most versitale of all my lenses. it's also able to produce magical bokeh at closer focusing distances. I highly reccomand this lens to everyone owning a Pentax DSLR!

Some sample images:

f/3.2:

Wide open at f/2.8:

Stopped down to f/5.6:
