Breaking in my DA70mm - or, rather, breaking in my brain to a 70mm focal length, which I've never had before. Damn these Ltd. lenses can do no wrong!

Anyone know what kind of blossoming tree this is?
Normally more of a "bush" than a "tree", but these are lilacs.

Nice images! Ours won't bloom for another week or two...

Thanks Marc! Years ago I had a huge lilac bush, which actually looked like a bush. I shot those images over the fence ... and didn't recognize 'em considering my neighbor's lilac bush looks like this:

DA 70 is perfect Kids B-Day Lens

I just got back from a kid's birthday party. I shot exclusively with a DA 70 on my K100D. It was the perfect tool! ISO 200, wide open at 2.4, and shutter speeds of either 1/30 or 1/45.

On a tangent, I've considered upgrading to a K-x for low light photography, but after spending the morning constantly checking my shutter speed on the top LCD, there's no way I can give that up. I suppose it's a K-7 for me...someday.

The K-x shows shutter speed (as well as every thing else) on the LCD at all times. It took me only a week to get use to glancing there instead of at the top of the camera on my K10.

Just sayin' I mean, can your K100 do this at ISO 128,000?

(this is a 1000mm f/16 mirror lens pic of my son bicycling outside in the late evening - awful conditions!)

Don't mind me - just trying to drag people over to the dark side

K100Deficiencies

That is truly amazing high-ISO performance. Not only would my K100D be incapable of getting that quality past ISO 800, but my glacially slow burst rate, auto focus, and buffer speed would no doubt take me out of contention as well. And then there's the issues cropping a 6MP image...

I'm way overdue for an upgrade!

However, the top lcd allows me to keep my head up and my camera down in a more natural position, at least until I'm ready to shoot. And at ISO 200, the K100D is still a pretty awesome camera.

Anyway, this is probably the wrong forum category for this hackneyed debate (of course i started it, so my bad). See you at the DSLR discussion board!

Itisme, what flower is in your last photo? I took some photos of my neighbor's flowers today, looks like the same plant ... though I like your shot better.

DA35, F6.3, 1/250, ISO400:

DA35, F4.5, 1/200, ISO400:

Most likely a rogue dust particle, possibly a coating blemish.
