Thanks. It's not specific to the DA15, although the DA15 does it best of the limiteds I own.

Here's a photo taken with the DA21 (that I posted earlier in the thread) with a similair effect.

My friend who was with me took that same photo with a Canon & zoom and the flare control wasn't as good. Here's his photo:

Canon 7D w/ 17-55 f2.8 zoom @ 17mm.
Wow, I´m impressed by that, especially considering that the Canon 17-55 is supposed to be very good. I would say the Canon photo is destryed by the flare, while the DA21 pic is very nice. I regard the DA21 as unreasonably slow for a prime, but it´s other qualities are moving it up my wish list.

DA40 at f16

Nothing artistic besides proving that DA40 can also provide good sunburst effect, not as good as DA15 though.

Actually I prefer the more diffused effect.

@ducdao

wow, the 40mm is a real winner, a very happy intermediate of all the limiteds!

I will shoot and try my own sunburst tomorrow. thanks!

The DA 40 makes nice starbursts... not as sharp as the DA 15 (which is ideal for landscapes) but actually really nice... they are softer and have more of a nostalgic feel... they would look great behind someone sitting at a window, where sharpness would destroy the mood of the photo.

Since it appears to be the theme lately, here's another starburst with the DA21

Stunning photo of one of the great classics! It makes me want to jump right behind that wheel and make some noise through those trees!
