There are a lot of lines going in different directions. I think the tilted frame adds to this. And the bold amber of the beer attention as well. My eyes keep going to the salt shaker, where I concentrate on the uncertain bokeh. It'd be nice if the composition directed the eye to the subject, and then maybe gently to background details. Here, though, those background details are salt, beer, ashtray, plus indeterminate blotches of background color. These things don't have me thinking "mmm, cake".
Shallow depth of field is often good for food photography, but here the whipped cream is out of focus. I think it'd be nice to have all of the flower-like details sharp. This again contributes to a general feeling that there's uncertainty about what the subject of the photo is.
