Thanks. The two of graffiti were inside the top floor of the entrance building of an abandoned turnpike tunnel about a mile in length through Sideling Hill mountain near my home. There is a whole section of the Pennsylvania turnpike with two major tunnels that was abandoned in the late 1960s after it was determined that it would be cheaper to build a new route, than to drill two additional tunnels in order to separate the flow of each single two lane tunnel. Think make double barrel from single barrel. I have better photos of the Sideling Hill tunnel on my flickr site here. Flickr: Schmidlapper's Photostream The whole abandoned section has been turned into a bike and hike area near Breezewood, PA.

Another great one there Mark lj.

Amazing shot!

I love the way you PP your photos. Just some sliders in LR4?

Damn I need to seriously explore fiddling with LR4 more.

the da 70 is so sharp and contrasty as if you can blow up any image and it would look like taken by a macro lens.

mark lj
what's that?

Thanks! Never seen sun rays extent this far. There are fires east of here, with some of the smoke/ash drifting over our way....wonder if that's why.....

I bet that's it. Some of the best ones I have seen are when there's smoke from distant (or not so distant) fires. Cool shot!

I used my da40 to take a 22 image panorama (portrait oriented) while I was at the summit yesterday. I searched for a better way to display the result and found this interesting app, Dermandar. I can't figure out how to embed it here, but check it out on my blog. Pretty neat technology! The da40 is so nice for panoramas due to the very low distortion and great sharpness. Have a look!

Edit to add: Here's the static version (click for very large one) but it hardly does it justice. The interactive version (which I think uses Flash) is much more interesting.

Edit again to add: I fixed the missing blog post. D'oh! I hadn't checked the "Publish" button. It should now take you to the interactive panorama I referred to above.
