I've found that the DA35 Ltd (and also the DA15 Ltd, in fact probably the whole DA Limited family) are SUPERB at handling contrasts - they render in such a way as to give a crisp, compelling, slightly larger-than-life result. Uniquely beautiful. Zeiss gives something similar, but not quite the same.

And the amazing thing about the DA LTD glass is, the deep shadow areas are still rendered with considerable detail when one zooms in, and still able to show some micro-contrast, although already so dark! This I attribute to the glass, not the sensor, because I see it evident even in older sensors eg. K-7.

The DA LTDs are in a class of their own in rendering contrast - really special.
Looking forward to adding a 15mm Ltd to my arsenal in the future, i think it'll make a killer general-purpose three lens kit: 15 Ltd + 35 Ltd + 100 DFA WR. Keep two in a couple of pouches strapped to a backpack for easy lens changes and you are set.

The DA35 can deliver some decent detail at full 1:1 magnification too
35mm 1:1 is easier to hand hold, if you can get close enough still retaining some light ...

I'm thinking about the 20-40mm LTD. Does it have that magic pixie dust quality of the other DA LTD's?

Just found this thread. The DA 40 is surprisingly good at food pictures. Mmm...

Perhaps one of my last shots with the Pentax DA40, as I will probably be selling it along with the rest of my Pentax gear. I've bought a used D700
Still, I think I will miss shooting Pentax some times, they really do make great cameras.

I went out for a ride last night with storms helping decide where to go. I managed to stay dry but the awesome evening light never made it through the clouds.
So I just grabbed this wildflower shot, the Indian paintbrush are coming up around here at lower elevations. The mountains in the background are local landmarks so this has been a popular FB image locally.
