Originally posted by ToyTank Just curious who uses a hood with the raynox and who doesn't? I started using a 49mm screw on hood I can't say I see a huge difference which surprised me.
Eventually you will see a photo ruined by flare, and others with reduced contrast due to veiling flare, exactly like a regular lens. I'm a big fan of lens hoods, but there are two problems I've observed with a hood when shooting macro:
- A hood can block the light
- A hood can scare insects with its looming presence
I use a 49mm hood sometimes, but not often with insects.
