That is VERY NICE apemen!
Can you remember your distance for that shot?
When I try to get that close I need to be about 1 cm from the object and that aint very practical
Still havnt got the Raynox 250 but I will pick it up soon unless I can do better with my own macro kit. Judging from your pic I guess I will have to get it....

Thank you audiobomber, aliasant.

I think it was about 10cm. The lens was set at minumum focus.
Unfortanetly flash was at the right-on a bracket.

When I look at this photo of the bee on the pink flower, and I mean sort of relaxing my gaze and stare at it...I can see movement in the photo! I swear I"m not kiddin...I'm not drunk and I'm not on drugs. lmao!! If you stare at that photo, it's as if it's moving in slow motion. That is too freakin' weird!

Here's a couple of shots I've posted elsewhere on the forum. May as well put them here where they belong. Tamron 70-300 and Raynox 250.

Dan these are fantastic and just the sort of examples I was hoping to find. I just got a 250 and have the same Tamron 70-300mm (macro). So what I'm wondering is, do I use the Raynox on the Tam in 'macro' mode or does it not matter? May I ask the specifics of how these two great shots were obtained?

I believe on these photos I used near-minimum apertures (f/32-40) and a Sigma 530 Super flash. I had the luxury of a tripod for the crab spider. I used the Tamron at 300mm and infinity focus. At infinity focus, it doesn't matter whether you're in macro mode or not. I used infinity focus because the Raynox 250 is already at 2.7:1, and that's hard enough to handle. It may vignette with some focal lengths and closer focus, I can't remember.

More photos here:

and here: https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/pentax-slr-lens-discussion/33904-what-ray...-70-300mm.html

Sorry for the vagueness, I haven't used the Tamron/Raynox combo for a couple of years. These macro sets are no longer in my computer, they're stored away.

Guys,

Can you advise me what would be the most practical model of this Raynox Macro accessory is desirable when combining it with a DA Limited lens? i.e. DA 40mm and for my K-x kit lenses, I would love to have one of these set up.

Thank you in advance.

Raynox 250 for DA40 and DA18-55, Raynox 150 for DA50-200 and DA55-300.

I am using the Raynox150 on my Cosina 55/1.2 mainly to decrease the minimum focus disctance on that lens but still be able to play with very shallow DOF. The raynox allows me to get in much closer like this:

That is because it actually is moving... And it's coming to get ya!

Maybe it is because it was a tiny bit of motion blur, which was toned down when downsized? Or maybe you are lying about not being drunk?

As someone said earlier in the thread, if you want extreme close ups of insects etc. the 250 is the way to go. If you want moderate macro of flowers or not-so-microscopic macro of insects the 150 would be a good choice.

I have not used the 150 myself, but I guess it would be a bit easier to use than the 250 because of less magnification (more DOF). Hopefully someone with both can confirm this.
