I just received the M150 and took a few test shots. These were all done with a DA 55-300. The first shot is the inside of a dandelion at ISO400 - 300mm - f/20 - 1/250 and the 2nd are the match heads on a book of matches at ISO400 - 300mm - f/5.8 - 1/250. All were hand held.

Hello,

details of a mayfly, photos were shot with the sigma 105 mm and raynox DCR 150/250.
Male mayfly because the enlarged compound eyes are at top head of the insect (only males got enlarged eyes).
In french language we call this eyes, eyes in turban because of the shape of them.

I didn't remember which photos were shot with the 150 and which were shot with the 250.
I used the macro position (1:1) of my sigma 105 mm with both raynox lens to get the higher magnification.
So it's not macrophotography but microphotography.

The size of the insect is about 3 cm (between 1 1/5, 1 1/6 inches) long without the tails and legs (only body).

I'm totally new to DSLRs and modern micro photography.After seeing some awesome Raynox photos here I bought a Raynox 135 mm f2.8 lens ser. no. c306585 . The vendor knew very little about lenses but he thought it was a Pentax mount micro lens. I paid $15.00 for it with the hope of mounting it on a soon to be acquired k10d. The mount is too small for either a k1000 or P3. Can anyone tell from the description I gave what this lens is or if it is a close focus micro lens ?

Hello,

many people say about the raynox 135 mm f2.8 that is a very good lens.
This lens get a great IQ according the posts found on several photography forums.
To get microphoto you need to use macro conversion lens with a macro lens.
With a standard lens you won't be able to get microphoto, only proxiphoto.
If the magnification is high enough you'll get a macrophoto.
Your raynox is not a macro lens, it's just a standard lens.

It's a M42 mount, so you need a M42 to PK adapter.
The m42 mount is a screw thread mounting for 35 mm cameras, primarily first DSLR.
The M42 mount was popularized in the USA by Pentax but was first developed by Carl Zeiss.

Hi I got a question regarding this, on the website (DCR-250 Super Macro conversion lens for D-SLR camera) it says that the front filter is 49mm, but the adaptors are 52-67mm... does this mean I can just slot it in to a Limited (49mm) without having to use an adaptor, or will I have to use a step up adaptor to fit it in to the 52mm?

IMO a 49-43 step-down ring would be more convenient to mount the dcr-250 directly. (I have a 58-43 for the DCR-150 + DAL 55-300, works a treat).

Yup. The idea being that if you are getting a step-ring to mount the Raynox you might as well get one that works as such, that is, without adding the clip-on. Of course the combination of a step-up and the clip-on would work too.

The front (female) filter threads for the DCR 150 are 49mm; therefore a 49x49 reversing ring could be used.

ignore this: The rear (male) threads appear to be just a little smaller than 46mm - I don't have a way to confirm if they are 43mm. They are not 42mm.

EDIT: Jolepp confirms 43mm
