Used my Raynox 150 on a Pentax M 50mm F2 for this, must pick up a 250 at some point.

Thanks! It's actually going to appear in a book about brand design soon so I'm pretty excited about that.

Many beautiful shots in this thread!

I got Raynox DCR-250 some weeks ago, but so far I only had time to test it with D FA 100 mm. None of the shots is usable - this is just to demonstrate the extremely shallow DoF which I'm getting.

Seems like Raynox works well if you need to turn "normal" lens into macro lens, but can't be used to increase the magnification (of a macro lens) above 1x (or there's something I'm doing totally wrong).

To get above 1:1 with the DCR-250 you need a primary lens longer than 125mm focal length. (The DCR-250 is +8 diopters, equivalent to 125mm focal length.)

There's nothing wrong with your image. You're at about 2:1 macro with the D FA 100 and DCR-250. The lower the subject distance, the less DOF you have. You shot at f4, try f14 or f16 for a start. Or learn to stack images (something I've not done).

Oops, my bad. I forgot that the formula for computing magnification from diopters assumes normal lenses.

Here is the calculator: Macro Extension Tubes & Close-up Lenses
With DFA100macro (At MFD) and Raynox DCR-250, you should be around 2.6X or 2.6:1 magnification.

The formula assumes any lens, but at infinity focus. If you focus at less than infinity focus, the formula doesn't hold.
