Well, physics is the same for everyone.
Using a high quality prime with a Raynox makes good sense for best IQ. Using minimum focus distance exclusively makes sense if magnification is the only goal. However there are times when subject distance becomes more important to me than maximizing magnification, i.e. with skittish or hazardous subjects.
