I feel it is pretty sturdy. I've "forced" in on a 49mm lens and was more worried about the thread of the lens. In fact, I only did it because I had attached a UV filter before. It is a tight fit but one does not need to apply unreasonable force. I do it by practically screwing the adapter in (not clipping as you would normally).

Well, take that with a grain of salt. I completely baby my lenses and I think before I'd notice anything on the thread the Raynox adapter would suffer a bit of abrasion. But it looks like rather hard plastic that won't break that easily.

it's better to buy an adaptor of either of the sizes previously mentioned, it is a very tight fit in a 49 and in a hurry to catch something or remove it has the potential to cause damage, I used to just fit my 2 [150 +250] but I bought a couple of 49- to 55 rings instead.

Been practising with mine the last few days since I bought my K100D and here is one I took this morning. It's part of a Christmas cactus.

I can't find it now, but there was some instruction from Raynox that you are supposed to mount the macro adapter adjacent to the lens (no filter in between). I'm not sure why.

hi guys,

I wanted to get a raynox for a whle.

From all the threads, with a pentax DAL 55-300 lens, i should buy a 150? Will it fit onto the lens or should i get a convertor as well.

Hopefully ia m able to post my work soon too.

TIA

FA77 + Raynox 150

Hi! Lots of great photos, everyone!

Here are a couple of test shots with the FA 77 Ltd + Raynox 150 combo:

I bought the Raynox 150 mainly for use together with the DA 55-300 for taking pics of bugs, but I'm afraid I haven't used it much yet. Winter isn't the best time of year for bug photography here in Norway

The 150 is definitely the one to get for a 55-300mm. The clip that comes with the DCR-150 fits the 55-300 with no messing around. Just clip it on and away you go.

Very interesting read, I am thinking of getting the DCR-150 to use on my DA*50-135mm, has anyone tried that combination out?

Are Canon 250D images allowed?

I just got my K-x kit a half hour ago and had to put my 250D (which I actually use on my Canon compact) on the 55-300 to see how it works. Here's my first shot of a $20...

I first reduced the image by 50% and then took a crop. This was at 100mm and the camera lens was about 9.5" away. The combination seems to work well, so now I don't have to revert back to my compact for macro shots!

DCR 150

Got mine yesterday, can't wait to try it out. Had an Amazon £10 voucher to use so total paid was just £20 UK. All I need now is something of interest to take a photo of. Apart from a tiny fly that is getting on my wick buzzing around there's not much mini life around here in Winter. After seeing some of the inspirational insect photos on here I'm heading that way. I'll find something, fear not. Thanks for persuading me.

I bought some flowers this weekend & after I photograph them I will see if my wife wants them.

Kit lens + raynox 1.5

I also posted some raynox + sear's 1.4 in the sears club thread if you are interested in a 40 yr old lens with raynox.

Wow, those are gorgeous!!! I'll bet your wife will want the photos instead of the flowers.

When you say "kit lens," do you mean the 18-55? What focal length?

I've been playing around with the Raynox 150, and the instructions say to either set the "camera to macro" or "focus to infinity." The Raynox works much better with my Canon S90 when I set the camera to macro and use the widest focal length. But on the K-x, if I focus to infinity, I get more working room, but much less magnification. Also the 18-55 can focus pretty closely to start with, so the Raynox 150 doesn't do much. Or am I missing something?

On the K-x, the "macro" setting is just a scene mode, right? I mean, it doesn't change how close the lens focuses, as it does on my S90 P&S. Correct?

Sorry for the noob questions. I'm trying to wrap my brain around all this.

You are basically correct on all counts. For a lens that already focuses pretty close like the 18-55, the 150 doesn't do a lot lot more, especially if you focus at infinity. The macro setting on the K-x is just a scene mode - probably selects a small aperture to maximize aperture. With or without the Rayox, you get more magnification at longer focal lengths than shorter, since minimum focus distance stays the same.
