What do you guys consider a fair price for a very good copy of a Pentax K 50mm f1.2 nowadays?

You could do far worse than to have your own "Special Lady” (SMC Pentax-A 50mm F1.2) in your arsenal.

1.2 is useful even at a greater distance for isolating subjects. Shot my XF56 1.2 for the whole parade (Snow and cold kept me from enthusiastically changing lenses or using MF lenses)
The image quality of these shots is striking - at f1.2 they are sharp and defined - of course at this price point that lens should be delivering .. and I have got to say that it indeed is !

Thanks, all the Fuji lenses are pretty amazing so far (I'd say the pancakes - the 18-27 are the most pedestrian, but they are the cheapest as well - the 27 was $350 Canadian, the 18 $500 - they are very sharp at 4-5.6 though) the 23-35-56 are nothing short of as impressive as the FA limited trio in Film IMO , the macro I only picked up last night so judgement reserved on it

Was trying out the 1.2 aperture for Astro shoots, using the 500 rule, this was noisy but not to bad I thought. Its the large magellan cloud.
Interesting you get the same "pac-man" shapes as my k 50 1.2

We all think of 1.2 lenses for low light no flash but with flash they are great as well

XF56 f1.2 @ 1.2, iso 200 1/125 flash -1ev 2nd curtain sync, Stofen amber Diffuser bounced off wall to left of Blu.

Very nice. The best flash shots are ones where you don't realise one was used.

I hadn't thought of a coloured diffuser to simulate the warm light often obliterated by flash, even if bounced. I will have to look into that, many thanks.

Well at least its not space invaders.
I was putting that down to CA and a bit camera movement with the longish exposure vs star trials. Where is your photo for comparison is it posted?

you're welcome, the warm diffuser is really just an old film trick (I have a green one that's good if you add flash to stage lighting which is usually tungsten based, achieves the same thing (of course it was for shooting flash with Tungsten film way back) You can duplicate some of that in post but i like it when you can just shoot and have little post to do

Mine was shot on a tripod and using 8 second shutter so i wouldn't have say there was any movement. My guess was that the lense actually focuses beyond infinity, so setting focus all the way round is not true "infinity" but this was a while ago and I would have to have another look at the causes.
Trying to link from my phone but so this may not work,

Otherwise it is in my Flickr album "chapter 3: the sky"
