+I'd got my new copy from a Japanese seller via Ebay "make offer" for only $489 but with the carton box (no the cool leather box) + hood.
+Center really sharp wide open without (or negligible) CA.
+Beautiful solid bubbles bokeh (No onion ring) and I love the out of focus rendering.
+Equilibrated brilliance colors
+All metal.
-Cheap plastic hood.
-Focus ring pass the infinity (landscapes get focused just before the infinity mark)
-Be carefully attaching the lens in camera mount because back glass element is exposed.
-I like to shot using manual focus lens but nail the focus in this lens required me and a couple of weeks and a sniper serenity: sustain breath, focus carefully and shot softly.
-IMHO is mandatory using of PENTAX eye cup O-ME53
-Live view is the only way to ensure 100% shots in perfect focus as long you or your subject do not MOVE. Other way I use to get about 90% using O-ME53 on K1 and about 75% on the DS2 without O-ME53.
-Slight out of focus really affects sharpness on flat surfaces.
This is a manual lens: Clickless front aperture ring with no A settings and no aperture lever.
Once I had a copy of the Pentax K 85mm f2 and the K 50mm f1.2: this lens is way better.
I don't regret buying but there are times when I think about the automation benefits of the HD 85mm f1.4
PS: I'll add this text to a lens review.
