one limitation of the cosina (and also the Takumar manual primes for that matter), is that the focus rings generally turn slowly. Thus, catching a moving object and nailing focus is pretty tough. For this shot, i was chasing the little bee all around the lavender bush and it was too quick for my manual focusing abilities. So, i ended up focusing on just ONE of the blossoms and then crouched there and waited for the bee to visit it. i mean, there are only five hundred or so of them and the bee is bound to stop at my target bloom sooner or later, right? haha. well, it finally worked and i was happy with the light behind the bee creating that halo.
This was the set where i just got the Cosina and didnt have any sort of hood for it and found that shooting into the sun was creating massive flaring, so i fashioned my own hood out of yellow cardstock (only color i had), which is apparently a color that attracts bees because they started hanging out all around my hood. I've since purchased a great hood but i'm keeping the yellow one for next spring when the bees are back.
