Why sometimes ƒ1.2 is a bad idea.

Very nice tones on these shots. I've only ever tried one roll of Delta 100 (when I first got into film) and the shots had extremely high contrast but I suspect that was due to bad scanning. I should try it again, but I love FP4+.....

On another note, there a Porst Color Reflex F lens in K-mount for sale at a place I know for 130GBP (190 USD) but from what I gather it's significantly less sharp wide open than other 50/1.2s, and that may explain the relatively low price. Obviously if you can't use an f/1.2 lens wide open then what is it good for??? Anyone have any feedback on this lens?

If you bought this hoping it would be sharp wide open I'm guessing you're quite disappointed....

Oh it is sharp wide open, just a bit glowy without a hood and used in macro application.

I've got it along with some other 16mm projecting lenses when I bought a lot of LOMO 35mm projecting lenses (120mm f/1.8, f/2, f/2.2 and 140mm f/1.8) in an Emmaus deal.

Some guys that were brave enough to buy a mirrorless camera have been using this little lens in a way it deserves. Us with a mirror, have to chase for glowy macro stuff.

Luckily, the rest of the bunch are all Petzvals, sharp in the center, properly swirly on APS-c and don't mind the mirror for infinity use.

OK ... to follow in Audi's footsteps, here are some images from my recently acquired Angιnieux 50/1.2 (16mm cinema lens) ... probably better on a mirror-less, but I will goof about with it for a while since I have so little invested thanks to my thrift store ... xpost

Maybe the distortion comes from the negative not being totally flat in the scanner?
