PF-U...You are going to love your Cosina! I had about 5 minutes with David's copy (ISO50, above) and was really hesitant to give it back. The lens is a real pleasure to use.

Steve

(Would get one except that I am out of money and have too many 50s...)

thanks! glad you like it.
one limitation of the cosina (and also the Takumar manual primes for that matter), is that the focus rings generally turn slowly. Thus, catching a moving object and nailing focus is pretty tough. For this shot, i was chasing the little bee all around the lavender bush and it was too quick for my manual focusing abilities. So, i ended up focusing on just ONE of the blossoms and then crouched there and waited for the bee to visit it. i mean, there are only five hundred or so of them and the bee is bound to stop at my target bloom sooner or later, right? haha. well, it finally worked and i was happy with the light behind the bee creating that halo.
This was the set where i just got the Cosina and didnt have any sort of hood for it and found that shooting into the sun was creating massive flaring, so i fashioned my own hood out of yellow cardstock (only color i had), which is apparently a color that attracts bees because they started hanging out all around my hood. I've since purchased a great hood but i'm keeping the yellow one for next spring when the bees are back.

I'm happy to be able to join this thread! Lots of wonder full pics. And the Bokeh of that Cosina is very interesting! Makes for very nice background.

Anyway here are two with the K50/1.2

Kodak Portra 160NC (focus slightly off)

Velvia (what else?!)

I haven't yet gotten the hang of the 1.2 tho - below are some shots, which the focusing point is slightly off. Nonetheless - love the dreamy characteristic of this lens, which is different from f1.4 lenses (had the FA 50 1.4 and the Vt 58mm / 1.4, all 3 lenses are quite different in terms of the feel of the pictures taken wide open)

Hysterical

Messing around with the newly acquired A 50mm f1.2. this is at 1/13 and f1.2. But at least it is not just any beer bottle!

here's a shot from this week in the backyard - this light ethereal effect is what i like best about the Cosina55 at 1.2.

that is sweet. it looks like HDR but it is just natural of the lens. I could produce the same effect though with the A 50/1.2. though there is a color rendition and bokeh representation between the 2 lenses had different variations.
