The FA*80-200 proved to be a very useful lens on safari, and together with the DA*300 and 1.4xTC was my standard setup for 98% of shots other than landscape/sunsets. While lots of reach is sometimes handy, fitting the whole animal into the frame when up close is not idea with a super-telephoto. I have long recommended that the DA55-300 is about the idea FL range for general safari photography, while the FA*80-200 covers a useful part of the ideal FL range, is sharp wide open for darker light, and is just so good ito IQ.
