I think it was never one of the great Pentax lenses and we expect - and can pixel peep - better now. It was fine for film because expectations were lower.. I just find the image lack apparent critical sharpness - maybe to do with contrast, maybe resolving power, I don't know. It's not train smash, just not as good (from what I see) as the 150-450, and not as good as the 70-200, as far as comparisons are possible. This is with a K-3:

it is very good; I have only had my copy about a week, so I have yet to really come to know her.... but this was my first shot with her:



hand-held, breezy conditions, and this barn is about third of a mile down the road...
