Agreed, Weevil. And nice work on the photo of the fox. I really enjoy using the FA* lenses.

Yeah, I'm doing a lot more senior portraits than usual this year. When this senior hired me I asked him to bring a mask, can of disinfectant spray, and roll of TP. I took normal photos during the shoot too, but these were really fun. I'm hoping he'll enjoy these in the distant future, reminding him of unprecedented times.

another one from the FA*250-600

Twenty-four hours after hatching, the baby Wood Ducks are getting ready to jump out of the nest. Their mother was waiting for them on the ground, about 5-6 meters down. They all got out in a short moment. I counted 14 of them.

actually, just pulled the trigger for a mint copy of the FA*400mm f5.6, I should get it next week...
that's going to be my new walkaround bird lens....

Can't wait to see what output I'll be able to extract from that FA*400...

Did you build the box for the ducks?

Has your FA* 400 arrived?

No I didn't built it, but my tenant did it for me, he does some wood work and he's retired, so he had time !

and yes the FA*400 has arrived (pretty fast from Japan actually! took only 5 days!)
and the only thing I can say right now is WOW!
It is a very nice and sharp copy I got: the COLORS (!!!!) and the BOKEH (!!!!) are on par with other FA* I have tried or seen so far!
(I'll post some photo samples here asap)

I can't wait to see some photos you've taken with it.

FA* 80-200 and K-1 ii:

Honestly I have no interest in the new D FA 70-200 f/2.8 when I have the FA* 80-200.

Here's one from Wednesday... I have many other nice shots, but haven't had decided to publish them so far... but I will asap!

Pentax K-3ii + FA* 400mm F5.6

It was a windy day as you can maybe feel it (lol)... taken handheld from a small 12ft boat, (that was a challenge to nail it, but I did!)

Hi builttospill ...

Here's another one from the SMC Pentax-FA* 400mm F5.6 ED [IF] (x-posted in the 300mm thread), where I pushed the limits of that lens...

Black bird with back-side lighting, taken with a new acquisition (i.e. FA*400mm f5.6, the little sister of my FA* 250-600) with K-1.
Taken handheld wide open (at f5.6)

FA* are known for some CA, but easily controlled in PP (I used the "Auto Defringe" feature to get rid of purple fringing)

So far I am really pleased with that 400mm... very small, light and pretty long reach. It is my new favorite lens! (and a nice complement to the other beast!)
