I know this is a long time after you posted this, but it was about the same day we had a wood duck baby wander into our yard by himself. No sign of family and he was alone. We adopted him and it changed our lives.

We raise wood ducks now, and they are an incredibly beautiful animal. Thanks for the picture!
Thanks, this year, we had a nestling of Eastern Screech Owls in the same place...

Check this Bird's album in FLickr for some great souvenirs...

Thank you very much for the good words. many were taken with the FA*250-600

I have so many others photos and videos (inside and outside the nest) taken with an IP camera during that journey. If someone is interested in getting a copy for behavioural science, I can share them all eventually, but that involve a lot of gygabytes of storage. but that out of topic anyways...

Those events helped us to forget a bit about that pandemic. The bird's house is just 30ft from our bedroom window.

Been too long since I posted here last. I will try to do better. The FA* 28-70 on the K-1 Mark II. More will will be coming with this combo since I took it with me, along with a few other lenses and bodies, on vacation to Yellowstone and Grand Tetons NP's. This is a six panel pixel shift panorama of the Grand Tetons shrouded in smoke from the California wildfires in September 2021.

Nice work there. I’ve only just restarted shooting with my FA*28-70, after buying the DFA28-105 (which is still a great lens for the money) a couple of years ago. It was, of course, one of the storied film-era Pentax FA* (and F* and A* etc before) series, and I got my cosmetically-rough but optically-good copy for a good price.

Which processing software do you use for dealing with pixel-shift? I have DCU, of course, but I find it very slow and not pleasant to use.

Honestly, I have not actually dealt with the pixel-shift aspect yet. I am very far behind on processing my photos and was kind of anxious to see how this pano was going to come out, so I just went with them as they were. When I get a little more caught up I may try DCU, and possibly RawTherape, to see what difference it might make. But I have to tell you that I am not disappointed with this outcome. I am quite pleased with the detail that I was able to pull out considering how thick the smoke actually was.

Just stepped into this thread. Title is F* & FA* club!, is your lens part of the title mentioned? Great picture, but.

No, it isn’t, and full marks for being polite about it. Some people may think that the * designation means a wildcard eg what it means in search fields and the like, rather than some of the high-end Pentax lens ranges.

Xposted from K-1 thread:

Decided just after Dolce's grooming was a good time to try some natural light portraits with the FA*85... She's a cooperative model if nothing else, heh.

Oooh, this is new!

Xpost of a few more from the K-1 thread:

Another small set of Dolce' trying different locations and natural light with the FA*85

Definately hard to keep the focus on the eyes with a tiny dog's face, especially when there is a nose sticking out to catch the AF attention, heh.
