so you bought his lens...

Hi Marc,

Jay Taylor has been a long time friend of mine. I got a chance to catch up with him a few months back, and I handled his FA* 250-600. That is really quite a sweet lens!!!!! and in perfect condition.

A very more versatile lens because of its zoom focal range and it performs beautifully.

Really nice work with that lens. I sure hope Pentax rolls out a revised supertelephoto soon! (fingers crossed)

Happy Holidays!

Mark and Pcarfan, this is for you (Jay's the former owner). Does a pic of an FA* lens count when taken with a Kodak P&S camera?

I've sold my FA* 80-200/2.8 since I wasn't using it much and paid for the new Gitzo GT3541XLS tripod with those funds. I'm waiting until the new year to buy a K7, which should be great with this lens!

Regards,
Marc

Just got my first prime, and it's a FA*24 f2 !
JPG straight from the camera, then ran through dxo.

Picture is f2, 1/10th, iso200. No sharpening.
A bit disappointed by the sharpness, but it might come from the camera : the same applies with my tamron 17-50. So, I won't bother, as far as images come
right when printed/viewed as a whole, and not pixel-peeped.

Still, the lens is really nice (even though I began playing with it 2 hours ago). Nice build, nice focus... Too bad, it's silver (but, well, I believe there are ways to cover that...)

Viggen, you will be pleased with this lens! I'm (one of my favorites)
After we get to know her, it's a great lens, but needs time to master
Check my PPG for the images "Peace Corps", "A new beginning", "Captain" and "Islet by Night". All with the FA*24/2
Cheers

I was going after this one or the Sigma... But, the opportunity arose for the Pentax, and with the right price

Islet by night is real nice. I hope I will be able to get as nice images as you do !

I have 3 FA* lenses, the FA*28-70 f2.8, the FA*80-200 f2.8 and the FA*300 f4.5 and every one of them are outstanding examples of the lens makers art. The FA*80-200 is probably my most prized lens.

FA*80-200 f2.8:

You might want to check if your lenses are front or back focusing, and make appropriate corrections. It will make a world of difference.

And one picture to prove that FA* 300/4.5 is nice lens to shoot backyard squirrels too.

Actually, not. He was listening to the distant barks of hounds, and didn't noticed me, walking away in the woods.
