You've just made my day. I am ready to buy a K7 with DA*50-135. Knowing I can get the leicatax adapter for my Leica 35, 50 and 90 lens more than confirms the deal. I had considered the DA*35 Macro instead of the zoom, but the adapter will round out everything nicely for me. Great photos. I will be adding some soon.
Cheers
Leitax is great solution for Leica lenses adoption. Conversions are generally quite easy and well documented on David's site. They are reversible, so it is always way to rollback to original bayonet. Only cons is price, but for you it will be cheaper - in Europe I need to pay VAT Remember about good quality screwdriver

Very nice images with these lenses. Am wondering how the aperture works (after they are converted to K mount via hardware from Leitex). Will it stay at the largest aperture for the viewfinder and meter and then automatically stop down to whats selected? Or is the aperture diaphram also manual in that you have to open up and stop down yourself?

The lens behaves just like an M42 lens meaning you will have to open up and stop down yourself.

Luckily, there's also a Chinese version now!
Adapter for Leica R lens To Pentax P/K PK camera on eBay.ca (item 250554708358 end time 30-Dec-09 22:47:49 EST)

They have them Buy-It-Now for $40, but I paid $30 for mine in auction (shipping included) and used the Leitax instructions. Very easy to do, and the new mount seems very well made. There's a tiny bit of play in the aperture ring up and down, and the ring goes past f/2 and f/16 on my Summicron 90/2, but this doesn't affect the function at all. Anything like this in the Leitax mount?

Careful not to lose the tiny ball bearing in the process--I did my conversion in a large corning ware dish so I wouldn't lose anything!

My friend augustmoon converted a 60/2.8 Macro for me, which I love. I'll try and post pics soon.

Ok, it was as I suspected. I have my eye on a Summicron-R 35 f/2 lens and wanted to compare it to my Pentax FA 35 f/2. But manually actuating the aperture seems to be more cumbersome. I could blow $700-$800 into the Summicron and convert it. But it makes less sense when another $200-$300 will buy me a new Pentax 31mm f/1.8 Ltd which can do this and autofocus. The Elmarit-R 35 f/2.8 is a much better value but loses a stop to the FA. The Elmarit or Summicron should have better color and bokeh from what I've read. But I'm not sold on them for general IQ and sharpness.

I agree that Leica's color is different from Pentax lenses. I don't say it is better
With bokeh I'm not so sure at all. I love Elmarit 60 bokeh and Summicron 35 is nice too. But on other hand I didn't found Summicron 50 to be in any way better in bokeh than my A 50/1.2. Of course it is my personnal opinion.

Leica Vario-Elmar-R 1:4/80-200

My last LBA. For some time I've looked for best 80-200 zoom which will replace in my bag two portrait lenses between 100-200. So my search was driven by two goals: best IQ and not heavier than 1kg. I thought about varoius Vivitars 70-210, old and new Pentax zooms, Tamron 19AH 70-210 and even Angenieux 70-210. Leica 80-200/4 has the best score in photodo (better than canon 80-200/4).

My impression is after one week. It is quite heavy - little over 1kg, but as other leicas is very user friendly - has build in hood, all parts moves extremally gently and are very precise. At f4 IQ is amazing. I did't test it enough to have final opinion about bokeh. I need more time and better weather conditions.

here there are examples - all at f4

Here is my collection - in fact I sold Summicron 50 few months ago

Being seen in the streets with this item of gear (especially near an airport) could easilty result in some problems with the local constabulary, I can imagine

I´d like to ask on experiences with "noname" china adapters Leica-2-Pentax that are much cheaper than leitax. What would you recommed me to buy? I think that there should be not much differences between them.

I bought one of those adapters from ebay and there are no issues except that it takes some fiddling to mount it on the camera. Apart from that it works as leitax.
