I usually dont use my Leica lens, but I noticed today that I dont have infinity focus..Its a R with a lens mounted adapter. According to the registration distance, this should not be happening..Any help here?
Without seeing the lens AND the mount you used I would not be able to comment.

However, I do know that there are 6 different Leitax R to Pentax K adapters. One has to be careful when ordering your R to K mounts to order the correct one. Might want to double check to make sure that you have the correct Leitax adapter.

Next, while installing a Leitax R to K adapter is fairly easy to do, I suppose that one could make a mistake during the installation that might result in an incorrect registraion distance...

Hello Jeff,
if it is not a Leitax one, look no further...

Snowy day, white pine forest, northern Wisconsin, USA.

Taken with adapted Leica R 80mm f/1.4 and Pentax K1. First photos I've taken with this lens after adapting it. I do believe that I'm going to like it, especially when shot at around f/2.

Look forward to posting more later tonight.

This lens was expensive (by my standards anyway), but I'm thinking that I got my money's worth and have found a "forever" lens that even holds up well against my beloved Zeiss lenses.

Hello Dave,
yes, it is a Walter Mandler design. I had it more than 20 years ago and loved it. Unfortunatly, I had to sell it. But today, it is so expensive that I boycot it.
The Mitakon Speedmaster 85/1.2 is an excellent alternative, except for minimal distance shooting...

WOW, just love the colors and 3D pop you get out of this lens on your K1!

While all of the Leica colors are great, I particularly am drawn to these Leica photos that have "red" in them. To my eye, Leica reds are somehow deeper and richer than the reds produced by any other lens I've used or seen. Do you agree?

I would say rather that it's the vermilion hues that are sublimated, especially with the 80mm and (wide open) elmarit 135mm .... the 50mm f2 is less subtle and has more garish and more vivid colors, but this 80mm is really very particular...I guess the other f1.4 summilux are just as surprising ... did you try Dave any more ?

No, the 80 is the only one that I currently own.

I am sure that in time I will buy more Leica R lenses and convert them to Pentax K mount.

Besides the 80 summilux, what other Leica R lens is your favorite? Also, I am particularly attracted to creamy bokeh. Which Leica lens do you feel has the best bokeh?

I meant: did you try to take other pictures with your 80mm?
For the bokeh, the elmarit 135 wide open (f2.8) really deserves to be examined... I will then talk about lenses that I do not have (still ) based on all my studies : the Apo-Summicron-R 90mm f/2 Asph is a sweet and expensive dream .... as well as the entire summilux series (35mm and 50mm). The apo Telyt 180mm f3.4, apparently made for a military purpose, is also a curiosity ... the 28mm of Teiki is also very high quality. A good party of the R lenses are bluffing, certainly expensive but whose adaptation to the K-1 matches beyond all expectations
