Leica lenses are not about sharpness actually (except new ones as Elmarit-R 28/2.8 (II), Apo-Asph-90/2, Summilux-R 50/1.4 E60, Apo-Telyt 280/2.8 modular...) but about rendition, colors and grey scale... The 60/2.8 is very special (last version triple coated is more contrasted), unique in rendition as Apo-Macro-Elmarit-R 100/2.8 is...
Originally posted by Fenwoodian ../..Maybe this comparison was not fair, after all, the Zeiss cost me 3 times more than I paid for the Leica lens; and the Zeiss is a much newer design. Maybe if I had used a more modern/expensive Leica lens the outcome would have been different?
Leica Summicron-R 50/2 is more than 40 years old Gauss formula, and of course is less good than the new ones. But I prefer it over Sigma ART 50/1.4 for convenience and grey scale....
