Tony, well done! That purple color is so vibrant and pure that there's no doubt it was taken with a Leica lens.
I love the color and center sharpness with this lens. With the K-1 I’m doing no color correction or added saturation.

With the Leica 135 middle of the night. Stopped down to f/4 this lens is very sharp, and great colors!

Tony, like me, it sounds like you've got a case of Leica GAS.

Indeed, the colors Leica lenses produce right out of the camera are outstanding. To my eye, I prefer Leica colors to Pentax and Zeiss colors.

Gedeon, nice images! I never tire of seeing Leica photographs. The colors are, to my eye, unique and realistic. Is the 50mm Summicron R that you used on the above photos one of the newer version 2's?

Just today I Leitaxed a Leica 50mm f/2 Summicron lens I purchased. It's an early version 1 (made in 1964). It's got "red" lettering on the distance markings which I believe that they only did for a couple of years. I'll try to take some photos with it tomorrow and post them here.

I've read that there is not much difference between the version 1 and version 2's. But I've also read that some have said the version 2 is sharper, but the version 1 has better bokeh. I'll post some photos and let you know about what I think of the differences between the two versions. While I currently do not own a version 2. I did own one last year and do recall what I thought of it. I'll try to take some photos with my new version 1, of the same subjects I previously had taken with my version 2.

As promised, below are a few photos that I took today at the local farmer's market with my new to me Leica 50mm R f/2 Summicron. The McDonald's photo was taken at f/5.6, the others were shot handheld wide open.

yes I have the second version. I was able to compare the two versions adapted on a Sony, with the same image and in real time. The 1st version is actually more contrasted, and the 2nd is just a little more homogeneous in the corners. But it's very, very little difference.... This summicron is just magic, colors and warm tones are deep and generous, like on your vegetables pictures

Gedeon, thank you for the information.

I took about 70 photos today with the 50 Summicron wide open. Indeed the colors and the contrast that this lens produces on the K1 are "magic"!

Gedeon, this is one of the best black and white photos I have seen in a long time.

Besides using the Leica 50mm Summicron, what other tips can you please give us on how to achieve such depth and clarity? Was this a jpg out of camera? Or, did you convert it to black and white using software?

thanks Dave I start with a raw base on a "Silver Fx" plugin rendering, and then, I change the settings until I get what I want. But the basic material (with a summicron) is already very contrasted, there's little adjustment to make and it is precisely very intuitive...

Thank you for the fast and detailed answer.

Gedeon, you are a master with the Leica R 50mm Summicron AND Silver FX. I too have Silver Fx, but my black and whites never turn out as magnificent as yours.

The detail I can see in the little old lady's face on the second story balcony is amazing. Again, well done my friend.

oh, and I also used a plugin call "piccure+" for sharpness. It's currently the best tool for this, I've never seen anything so effective for sharpness, but it need a big cpu power for treatment ....
funny : I took this N&B picture ... on a boat, returning to the port of Cassis...
