It's amazing how such a simple lens can be sooo sharp and pleasing to the eye!
I decided to purchase the old 100mm macro after checking the amazing pics of reptiles and amphibians posted on Flickr by an Australian naturalist. He often uses elaborate lighting techniques but most pictures are shot with vintage optics with very simple optical layouts (like the Leitz R 4/100 macro and the old Meyer 4.5/35mm). The results are superb.
I don't have my Leitax'ed Leitz lenses with me (left all of them in Thailand before covid). I miss them a lot.
I wanted to buy two more, as I've seen that covid brought down the prices of most vintage optics, but the old Summicron R 50mm and the 60mm macro seem to follow a totally different price dynamic. A real pity, cause my vintage lenses budget has shrinked :-(
I decided to give a try to the old M lenses I purchased at the time of the Leica CL, and that have sat unused in a drawer since then: the Leitz 2/40mm and the Minolta 2.8/28mm. The first results (shot with my Pana GX8) are promising. I'll share a couple of them once I have a few images worth posting
