Thanks for your help!

Just after seeing the photos on this page I immediately bought this lens from ebay. It had taken me months to decide which wide angle to buy, but all of you with your contribution to this page made it suddenly clear to me and I could decide. I can hardly wait for it to come to try. Thank you all.

Well, let me tell you then. You have, in a nutshell, removed the stigma from the Sigma, which, unfortunately, accompanies it, IMHO, merely because it is such a fantastic bargain that many believe it too good to be true.

You have shown, as is the case with so many lenses out there, that the determination of how well a lens shoots is still in the hands of the photographer, not in the price of the lens. "A picture speaks a thousand words" how many pictures have you posted Axl, how many words.

Now I feel humbled, very humbled....
Thanks Jewell... didn't realize that my shots could be meaning that to somebody, especially if there is so many great photographers in this thread alone.
Thank you.
I feel really humbled!

Trying out some hyperfocal range. I was "working" this weekend when I saw the sun, and the clouds down at the water, so decided to take a break and a few shots.

i'm giving some serious consideration to this lens. however, i'm also liking the sigma 20 and 30mm primes. just wondering what focal length your mostly using with this lens. closer to the 10 or closer to the 20? if it was the latter, i'd consider the sig prime. if your shooting the landscapes closer to 10, i'll stick with the 10-20.

95% of the shots at 10-12mm why else do you want a 10mm?

Pretty close for me as well. I would say that I am at 10-14mm 90% of the time. The UWA is the reason I bought the lens.

You have a tough choice to make: those Sigma primes sure are fast and nice. There are strengths and weaknesses, as always, for either selection. The important thing is to best accommodate your present needs--good luck. For me, it was definitely the 10mm end of the lens which sold it to me, particularly since I already had coverage at the end closer to 20mm.

...windows to the soul.

Why should one be restricted to just one end of the 10-20

I use the whole range.

this was 20mm, F8

best wishes, Phil
