Thanks Tamia. No, there was no cropping or vignetting in this shot, other than that caused by the Big Stopper.

I only have two slots and the cpl ring holder on my setup (rather than 3 slots).
I noticed that if I focus at 1 metre then there is less chance of (or no) vignetting compared to focusing at distance say infinity or even 10m.
But I noticed also that if there is ever some vignetting and I use lens correction with the sigma 10 - 20 profile in Adobe Camera Raw, then it disappears as the corners with the vignette are pulled outside the frame. A fact that puzzles me since that seems to cause more distortion in the corners. But maybe the distortions are more even after the correction...

But yes, no vignetting in this shot. Happy riding and shooting Tamia.
Thanks for satisfying my curiosity, Falke. I hadn't fully appreciated the Lee filters -- didn't realize what they were till after I wrote. Looks like a very versatile setup and one that I'll be considering for myself.

I'm not familiar with Adobe Camera RAW, not owning that software, so can't comment on the disappearance of the vignetting when using the lens correction profile. My software is quite basic and if I get vignetting, I either crop it out or use the clone tool in GraphicConverter to "hide" it.

Thin 77mm UV with internal threads for lens cap?

I'd earlier asked about experiences with polarizing filters on the 10 - 20. I've discovered that the polarizer which came used Tokina 2.8 zoom is 77mm, and thin, so I can experiment freely.

Now, I do need a UV filter. I have a 77mm UV, but it causes some vignetting. Any suggestions for a brand and model which is thin enough, AND which has internal threads to accomodate the Siggy lens cap?

I'm considering getting a 10-20 in January but the dodgy QC is worrying me as I won't be able to try several and pick the best unless I order several and then refund all but one. I'd like the f/3.5 version but the higher price is likely to rule that out.

Anyone here have to try several of these lenses before getting a good copy?

Hello Jonathan, I believe Sigma have improved their Quality Assurance after receiving plenty of complaints earlier. The DC EX series stands for Excellence (EX) or their Pro lens series. My very first copy of the Sigma 10-20 f4-5-6 DC EX Pentax mount, turned out superb & very sharp. I bought a slim frame ordinary glass 77 mm CPL and a GND filters from Amazon USA for $ 12 each shipped. They are excellent too. I use a Hoya Pro 1 Protector Filter on the Sigma 10-20 at all times.
Regards. Bipin.

.

Hoya HD CIR-PL on Sigma 10-20 F3.5 ( 82 mm ) doesn't cause any Vignetting.

I haven't heard anything bad about the Sigma quality control ,the Copy I ordered and Picked up is near Perfect. I use it a lot for my landscape / Seascapes shots and infact several Canikon Friends I shoot with have the same lens. it is a Great lens.just something you might want to be aware of , if you get the F3.5 version ,it Flares a lot

Nice shots.
I think b&w version you posted somewhere else on the forum looks better.
Merry Christmas

Hi Mike! This is awesome! I love the movement of the waves. Is this a simple slow shutter photo or is it layered with another exposure? Thank you!
