Hi Mike! This is awesome! I love the movement of the waves. Is this a simple slow shutter photo or is it layered with another exposure? Thank you!
thanks. I usually autobracket 2 shots. one normal and the other underexposed . This is a blended composite of the two bracketed exposures. In this case since the horizon has noting jutting up (trees, poles, mountains), a grad filter would have been a good option but I don't tend to use my grads at the ocean because everything is constantly getting sprayed and subject to some wind gusts.

Thank you Mike for the explanation! Here's a slow-shutter photo I took the same day as the B&W long exposure version. In both photos I used a 0.9 Soft GND. Although the wave movement in my shot was not as interesting as your shot (which I really love!).

man, that breaking water looks like a bed of feathers. I love it! Also digging the popping green algae on the rock. This works well in color.

Christmas presents were opened in close quarters this year and I wanted some good photos so the 10-20 came to the rescue. Here is one of my little boy.

The quality of the photos in this thread is phenomenal! I keep coming back just to get my eye-candy fix for the day.
Mike, your driftwood with the bridge in the background just drew me in and wouldn't let me go. I kept wondering where the wood came from and what it used to be a part of. Intriguing and beautiful photo!

I did a little research and found this to be a WWII-era Mooring Camel. It was a floating mini platform for berthing ships and submarines on this beach back in the day. Google it and you may find some photos of one in actual use. I really found it to be a fascinating piece of foreground.

Wow another set of beautiful photos Mike! Great job! I am still fascinated by those movements, just how strong are these waves? I wish I can come to beaches like that.
