I bought the Sigma 10-120 HSM OS in the Spring of 2010 for a vacation trip to Big Bend, thinking it would be a great landscape lens. I barely used it, and never really got the hang of it.
I found later that the best use is up close and personal, and I'm not so much into that, so I sold it last year. It was a wonderful lens, just not for my kind of shooting (mostly long glass for squirrels and birds).

This is my first time looking at this thread, and I must admit I admire what you guys can do with the 10-20...some wonderful shots here! I'll come back and continue to view your fine work!

Here is my one and only memorable shot with the 10-20, it was the first day of that vacation back in 2010, and only one of a very few shots I ever took with the lens. I hope the new owner is enjoying my old 10-20!

Best Regards!
Rupert

That's a nice one, @Rupert! I love what extreme wide angles do to clouds.

It's funny about these ultra wides. They do seem like good "landscape lenses" but really do work best in that capacity with something in the foreground, as you say, "up close and personal".

Being used to the long lenses, it took me a bit to be able to enjoy the 10-20. And I'm still working on using it competently. Cultivating skills in the wildlife and landscape genres at the same time is challenging, indeed.

Thank you! I never mastered the 10-20, and sold it, though I did love the speed and quality of the lens. At least I can enjoy the excellent work you guys do with it here!

Regards!

Kentster, Site Supporter Sir, awesome trio of photos from the Hoover Dam. We visited this site on our way to the Grand Canyon from Las Vegas last December, so we can truly enjoy it.

Please note that we cannot view the photo in its entirety and have to scroll. This looses the impact of the Sigma's wide magic.
Or is it a problem with my 4K laptop?
Regards.
