Beautiful shot Andep. I recently purchased the Sigma 10-20 and have only taken it out a couple of times and am still trying to master it. If I ever get a shot as beautiful as yours (or Oldbayrunner's right above your post), I might get up enough nerve to post it. Thanks for posting this. I spent days looking at every page of this entire thread and was inspired by all the photographic talent. Thanks to everyone for keeping the fire stoked under my photographic enthusiasm.
Thank you for your kind words! I was quite lucky to take this shot because allmost left the camera back in home. Technically it is not as good as it could be.. so I hope to get some better ones some day!

Thanks for your inclusion and kind words. I, like Andep, was lucky enough to be there at the right time and the camera/lens combination did the rest.

I don't use the Sigma too often due to its size, which is a shame since it's such great fun to use. This shot is maybe not a typical "wide" shot, but I like how it turned out anyway.

Edit: Seems Flickr found it worthy of an Explore. Never understood how these things work.

Savoche, I love the texture of the bricks.
It is interesting how the door and windows are much smaller than the original arches.
Obviously there has been some mods!

Indeed! The abbey was founded in 1239, later abandoned, partly dismantled, then modified and expanded several times over the centuries.

We don't do that sort of history in Australia - European settlement in 1788!

I had the same question (and thought the same of the pictures ), so I followed the link next to the tower and found it is in Laguna Beach: https://www.flickr.com/photos/mikeoria/25970805161/

Looks awesome, kind of miniaturized from the angle this shot was taken. Some very pretty colors too. The composition is eye catching.
Regards.

Not up to the recent standard in here I'm afraid, but my Mk1 has sat in the bag for too long...

A few years ago, I spent an enjoyable afternoon shooting in an overgrown automobile graveyard with my Siggy. I'm not sure I've posted these before on this thread. They're not up to the quality of the beautiful landscapes many of you post here, but auto graveyards of this sort are scattered all around rural America, and I imagine each of these deteriorating vehicles, if they could talk, would have stories to tell.

The UWA was great for this site because of the close proximity of the cars and the dense tree growth. All shot with the Pentax K200D, the Sigma 10-20mm f4-5.6 EX DC, f8, handheld. Here are a few from that session:

Fill 'er Up

Greenhouse Growth

Naked Bulb

No Face, No Name

Ouch!
