Sometimes the distortion isn't so obvious as in the case of your last shot; but looking carefully I can see the building isn't nearly as long as it appears.

This is one of my favorite threads. Even though I bought a DA15, I can't part with my Sigma 10~20.

I'm not so sure how long it appears to be, but I know how long it was. I took the shot virtually on top of the building, perhaps 3 feet away, at a big angle. With any ultra wide angle lens, with this angle/composition, you are going to get perspective distortion for sure. As for the distortion for the lens itself, when used correctly, I find it unobtrusive. I am grateful for the 10mm and accepted any imperfections when I bought the lens.

This lens is one of my 2 favorites--by far. And that comes from a long list of lenses used. It inspires and allows shots that no other lens does and I feel like I learn something from it each time I shoot with it.

BTW, though I can't be certain, I think the word "Lobster" was larger than the word "Pound," though not to the degree it appears here.

I believe the 10-20 has some really serious competition with the introduction of the 8-16.

I have been thinking of 8-16 since it came out but it's still bit out of the reach
Maybe one day

About "shooting into the sun".
It seems like da15 limited can shoot into the sun and still have usable picture, unlike this lens. Is this correct?

For example, can sigma 10-20mm do things like this?

https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/pentax-slr-lens-discussion/86234-15mm-lim...ml#post1096386
IMGP6511-1 on Flickr - Photo Sharing!

in this picture, there's sun but most of the image around it is still usable, except for the rays. While with sigma 10-20mm, in most pictures with sun in it, the whole area around the sun is ruined, not just narrow rays.

So, is it only possible with da15?

I am still trying to choose, and parameters of da15 and sigma 10-20 on photozone seem to be equal except for this... and the price is the same.

AFAIK there isn't another lens on the planet that handles the sun like the DA15, but to get that effect you have to stop it down. The more you stop it down, the more defined the the rays become. The 10-20 will not give you this effect at any arpeture, but it's still a very fine lens that will take shots that are impossible to get with the DA15. If you can afford both lenses, you will want to keep them both.

Finally some shots!

Hi everybody,
I finally finished editing shots from my last trip. It was walk from Broadstairs to Margate on Kentish coast. We had lovely weather and lot of fun.
Here are some pics courtesy Sigi 10-20:

I have actually been shooting quite a bit with the 10-20 but have not had time to process them.
I have a few on my blog here.

It is rare I see letters of the alphabet carved out by nature, so I took notice of this one.
