Good point. I guess I'd still have the other half of the pixels I cropped out to get to that point. Yay for 24mp huh?

This is one of those lenses that got much better for me going from the K-30 to the K-3.
I'm looking forward to the differences in photos as I am currently stepping up from my trusty old K10D to my just received new K5ii (one of the last that Amazon had to sell). The K3 was out of reach for me now (and probably overkill for my level of photography)

Dorwin Falls, about 65km north of Montreal, on a very, very gray winter's day. (Second shot also posted in the "Add Your Best K-01 Photos" thread.)

Hope this is the right place for a question. I've just got my 10-20 f3.5, and can't wait till the weekend to give it a decent work out. Do the Sigma owners here use a UV filter to protect the lens? The f3.5 version has an 82mm thread, which means a pricey filter, but if it's not really necessary I won't bother with one.
Hope to post something magical by next week......

Regards

Yup definitely sam , that's just to protect my investment , a while ago my lowpro back rolled of the table and it landed with my sigma 24-70 2.8 nose 1st which also has an 82 mm filter size , when i opened the bag, the lens cap was jammed inside the lens and when i eventually pulled it off there was broken glass inside under the cap of the lens, no damage to the lens so quite lucky there , however the protective filter did save the lens .I also carry a hoya hd cir polariser 82mm filter in my bag.

No. I keep the lens hood on, even in my camera bag.

Hi All,

I need to send my 10-20 f/4-5.6 in for adjustment. Has anyone else done this? If so, where did you send it. Incidentally, I'm in the mid-Atlantic region of the US.
I went ahead and sent it to Cris in Phoenix last month, with my k-01, 55-300 and DA35. All for cleaning and adjustment before the warranty ended. I paid shipping to them.. They took care of the rest!
( it didn't need adjustment)

I use both, hood always on, and filter. And some times, I remember to put the front lens cap

I like the first. It gives me a feeling of tranquility.

Christmas Lights in My Town

Christmas and New Year's Light in my city, with K-5 and Sigma 10-20mm 3.5

I like the perspective, the sensation of space this lens is creating. And even I'm not a good friend of post processing, I like these photos.

First, a scene from The BibleDowntown A small Christmas Tree

Finally going back through unprocessed images from last year's trip to Maui. Here are a couple using my Sigma 10-20

from two opposite ends of the island...

here it is on flickr: Mahinanui Sunrise | Flickr - Photo Sharing!

on flickr: La Perouse Bay, Maui | Flickr - Photo Sharing!
Perhaps with the 8-16mm you could have gotten both ends of the island into the same shot.

Recent sunrise shot with K5-IIs (prefered over K3) for extended bracketing.
