Here is one of those quaint New England scenes for which Vermont, in particular, is so well known--from the village of Stowe:

Philbaum: Thanks especially for the tip on linear polarizer - i think it would allow more use of my 10-20, its on my list.
You are welcome--I use a linear polarizer on my Tamron 17-50 too--works great. I do not mind spending more if it equates to more quality, but in this case the LP does the job just as well.

Same waterfall, entirely different perspective--up higher on headwall, @ 16mm:

Fantastic image. What really does it for me is the people in it. It really adds perspective to it....When people are used right, they can really enhance an image..

You are, as usual, right. But there is a solitary aspect to hiking, one which often has me shooting the natural landscape, without people--on its own terms. There is something special about being alone in the wilderness that I like to capture, for myself anyway.

But to show images here, to define space better, to add a human touch, natural landscapes benefit immensely from people. Thank you, so much, for the complement.

It is hard to tell from this pic, but it looks like your snowshoes are not on your feet. Is this so? Also, only one pole? Were you heading for the summit, or just cruising the low elevations?

here are a couple from around my home town and from my pre-pentax days:

14mm, 1/320, f8, ISO800 (and about an hour cloning out power lines!)

16mm, 1/200, f11, ISO800

I always wanted to do an HDR version of this shot:

10mm, 1/400, f9, ISO400
Lompoc Carnegie Library 1910-1968. After the new library was built the old library was converted into a wonderful museum. Though it needs a new sign...I never really liked that sign, but hey, it works I supposed.

Also located on the corner of Cypress and South H Street across from the old Cypress Tree.

LOL--yes, that cloning tool could use some serious re-working if you ask me. BTW, that is a cooooool tree!

My New Sigma 10-20 arrived tonight but I may have to wait till Feb. for it to warm up enough to take it outside to play.
